PH.D. CANDIDATE IN ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR

About Claire

Claire Sandman Malcomb (she/her) is a Ph.D. candidate in Organizational Behavior at the ILR School at Cornell University. Her research explores the role of allies in building more inclusive organizations and a more equitable society. She is particularly interested in understanding the psychological and contextual factors that influence a person’s decision to act as an ally and developing interventions to increase engagement in effective ally behavior.

In addition to her research, Claire is also passionate about teaching and mentoring. As a Ph.D. student, she created and teaches the first core undergraduate course related to diversity, equity, and inclusion for the ILR School. She also established a new undergraduate research program in collaboration with the WIDE Center at the ILR School, creating opportunities for undergraduate students to get involved in diversity research.

Claire earned her bachelor degree with a double major in Psychology and Cognitive Sciences from Rice University. During her time at Rice, she developed a passion for research working as a research assistant and conducting an Honors Thesis in Mikki Hebl’s Lab. After graduating, she moved to Ithaca, NY to pursue a masters and Ph.D. in organizational behavior at Cornell University’s ILR School.
