RESEARCH & IMPACT
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF MANAGEMENT
About Claire
I study why efforts to create more inclusive workplaces often fall short, and what helps people act when it matters most.
I am an Assistant Professor of Management at St. Edward’s University, with a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Cornell University’s ILR School and a B.A. in Psychology and Cognitive Science from Rice University.
My research focuses on the gap between values and action; Even individuals who care about inclusion may hesitate to speak up or intervene due to uncertainty, competing social pressures, or concerns about how their behavior will be received. I study when people act, when they stay silent, and what shapes those decisions.
I also examine how workplace policies and leadership practices shape participation in inclusion efforts, identifying approaches that encourage meaningful engagement rather than symbolic compliance.
Across my research, teaching, and work with organizations, I bridge research and practice, helping people and organizations navigate complex interpersonal dynamics and build more inclusive and effective workplaces.
